Saturday was "Shevchenkovski Day" in Kiev. Shevchenkovski is the name of the district I live in. I guess it's the equivalent of Clarendon days, or any other neighborhood celebration you see in Arlington. Anyway, the only way I was able to note this celebration being marked was by a weather beaten and haggard Ukrainian flag being placed on my building and briefly seeing a talent show put on by students from Shevkenko University.
